Content & Intellectual Property Policy
Last updated
The short version
- Upload only photos and text you made or have permission to use.
- No celebrities, brand logos, copyrighted characters, other people's art, hate, nudity or harassment.
- We check uploads and may refuse any order, with a full refund.
- Rights holders can send us a takedown notice; we respond quickly.
This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.
Sonaday prints what you upload and type, so we need a few rules to keep everyone safe and respect other people's rights. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
1. What you can upload
Photos you took yourself, photos of you and your family and friends, your pets, your home, and text you wrote. If someone else took the photo or appears in it, make sure you have their permission to use it on a gift.
2. What you can't upload or print
- Other people's copyrighted work: artwork, illustrations, photos, comics, film or TV stills, song lyrics, poems or book passages you don't have rights to.
- Brand logos and trademarks: sports teams, universities, companies, products, or anything that suggests an official link to a brand.
- Celebrities and public figures: their photos, names used to sell, or likenesses, without their permission.
- Characters: cartoon, game, film and book characters, and close copies of them.
- Hate: content that attacks or demeans people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age, or that promotes hateful groups or symbols.
- Nudity and sexual content.
- Harassment: content meant to bully, threaten, shame or expose a real person, including their private information.
- Violence and illegal content: threats, glorifying violence, illegal activity, or anything that breaks the law where it's made or delivered.
- Content that sexualises or endangers children, in any form. We report this to the authorities.
The same rules apply to prompts and results in the AI Studio.
3. How we moderate
We check uploads, text and AI prompts with automated tools and, where needed, a person. If something looks like it breaks these rules, we may ask you about it, ask you to change it, or refuse the order. If we refuse an order, we refund what you paid for it. We may also refuse orders without giving a detailed reason where that's needed to prevent abuse.
4. Reporting copyright infringement (notice and takedown)
We respect intellectual property. If you believe something made or shown by Sonaday infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at [[DMCA_AGENT_EMAIL]]. Your notice should include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- a description of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed;
- a description of the infringing material and where it is (an order reference, URL or image, if you have one);
- your name, address, phone number and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
This process follows the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). Trademark and other rights holders can use the same address.
5. Counter-notice
If your content was removed or your order refused because of a notice and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to [[DMCA_AGENT_EMAIL]] including:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- a description of the material and where it appeared before it was removed;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, any judicial district where we may be found), and that you will accept service from the person who sent the original notice.
We may pass your counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice.
6. Repeat infringers
We refuse future orders from customers who repeatedly upload content that infringes other people's rights.
